Yarn Mesh Hardware
At Yarn, we use the Nordic Semiconductor NRF52 series of SOCs, which form the basis of all of our products. More information about the ICs we use can be found here.
Network Gateway
Every Yarn Mesh network needs a gateway. The gateway acts as a bridge between the Internet and Yarn Mesh’s 802.15.4 segment. The gateway typically uses LTE for backhaul and comes with a solar panel and inbuilt batteries.
Network Relay
Yarn Mesh relays act as routers on the mesh. They take data from nodes relay or forward it the direction of the gateway, either directly or via other relays. Relays come with a battery, solar panel and an enclosure that bolts to a waratah.
End Device / Node
End devices can be things like weather stations, traps, personnel locators, ultrasonics etc. These end devices usually create the data that the network transports, and vary in size, weight and complexity.
