Does the AI work today, and what’s coming next?

Images stream to IMS in near real time now. Cloud AI auto-classification started rolling out in Q3 2025, models are being improved and updated all the time with new species and objects being added to the classification model. As species and objects are added your camera gets smarter and you get actionable intelligence.

Do I need a Yarn Mesh network for the TrailCam to work?

Yes. The TrailCam uses Yarn Mesh for high-bandwidth, multi-hop image transfer. If you don’t have coverage, you can start with an Indoor Gateway and add Relays to expand coverage as necessary or for larger areas we can design a Gateway/Relay service for your site.

What subscription is required?

Each camera requires a Connected Device Subscription (CDS): NZD $180/year ($15/month). This covers Yarn Mesh connectivity, Yarn Manager, firmware,  AI model updates and IMS access .

What power options and battery life can I expect?

TrailCam ships solar-ready (Solar powered charger included) with a combined ~39Ah battery capacity (camera + solar unit). It’s designed for continuous field use; IMS shows live power status for proactive maintenance. 

What image quality and transfer speed should I expect?

High-resolution images are stored locally; optimised images are sent over Yarn Mesh in seconds to minutes (depends on hop count, link quality and environment).

Is it weatherproof and field-updatable?

Yes—outdoor-rated enclosure, wide operating temps, and OTA & Cloud updates (firmware + AI models) to keep devices current without site visits.
